Euromonitor International, a market researcher, recently published a report during the World Travel Market London which is considered to be the number one travel and tourism gathering in the world. According to the report, Bangkok is currently on the second spot in the list of cities that are most visited by foreign travellers in the entire world. One of the proofs is the number of bookings in the best budget hotel in Sukhumvit which is one of the top choices of solo travellers and families traveling on a budget.
The report was entitled Top 100 City Destinations Ranking 2017. It shows that cities in Asia are the leading when it comes to international destinations. Asia ranked with 41 cities on the list and it is expected that the number will rise by 2025. This is mainly due to the sudden increase in Chinese tourists that are traveling outside of their country.
For the past eight years, Hong Kong retains the first spot as the most visited city in the globe and Bangkok is on the second spot which was London’s spot back in 2015.
Euromonitor International also revealed that for this year, Hong Kong is expected to receive around 25.7 million travellers. The number is slightly lower by 3.2 per cent compared to the same time period in 2016. This is mainly due to the tension that is brewing in China since Beijing is planning to regain control over its territory.
Bangkok, on the other hand, experienced an increase in the number of foreign arrivals. Majority of them came to the country through tour packages that are offered for Chinese residents that are visiting Thailand for the first time. Foreign arrival is set to be higher by 9.5 per cent with 21.3 million visitors. Due to this increase, Bangkok remains on the second spot while the gap between London is growing larger.
Number of travellers to London increased by 3.4 per cent fort this year mainly because of the decrease in the value of their currency, pound. While Britain is viewed as an expensive city, the presence of best budget hotel in Sukhumvit helps convince travellers to visit Bangkok.
