Lowes, Aprilia’s Rider, Not Concern About Standing During MotoGP Test

According to Sam Lowes, rookie rider for Aprilia, he is not concern about his rank on the timesheets during the opening of the MotoGP pre-season test held at Sepang.

Lowes is of British nationality and he recently moved up to becoming a premier class after riding in the Moto2 for the last three seasons. For this year’s pre-season test in Malaysia, he used the 2016 RS-GP made by Aprilia. The race is part of his acclimation in the MotoGP.

The process begins last year during the second half but the test conducted for the end of the season was not a good one for Lowes due to a neck injury he suffered after a crash in Valencia.

During the test at Sepang, Lowes started during the first day at 3.263 seconds off the pace while he improved to 1.973 seconds before the race ends. According to him, his progress was important rather than the fact that he was only 23rd on the ranking.

Lowes said that he felt that there is still a lot of improvement when it comes to lap time if they really need to do so. He also added that he performed a race run which he considered to be a new experience for him using the MotoGP bike.

He revealed that he did not push himself too hard but tried things to be consistent on his end. The result was that his best laps happened before the end of the race.

His group was able to take a lot of positive lessons during the test and they are improving to be better and better. He was happy that he was able to stay on his bike for three consecutive days which made him feel more confident.

He is not concerned about what is written on the sheets as long as he knows that he is improving and getting closer to his goals with the help of Aprilia motorbikes. The first day he was on the bike was a different feeling for him and he is confident that he can make it until the very end.
