The country of Thailand racked up a considerable number of awards in the Smart Travel Asia.com Best in Travel Poll for the year of 2017, with the Thai cities of Bangkok, Phuket, and Ko Samui, plus Hua Hin making it to the site’s list of ‘Top 10 Holiday Destinations’ for Asia, showing the appeal of the resorts in Hua Hin and these cities. Additionally, Bangkok and Phuket also managed to enter the site’s list of ‘Top 10 Cities for Meetings’ in Asia for the 2017 poll.
For Bangkok, Phuket and KoSamui, the entrance to the list is representative of the cities’ status as an important destination of the region, with all three having made the list in the prior year. The poll also placed Bangkok and Phuket amongst Asia’s ‘Top 10 Cities for Meetings’.
Thai Airways International (THAI) and Bangkok Airways both managed to enter the poll as part of the ‘Top 10 Airlines Worldwide’ as well as ‘Top 10 Airlines, Cabin Service Worldwide’ lists. THAI is Thailand’s national flag carrier, also managed to enter the poll in the ‘Top 10 Airlines, Business Class Worldwide’ list, whilst another Thai airline; Nok Air, entered the ‘Top 10 Budget Airlines’ for Asia.
Bangkok Airways also received another honour, with the KoSamui airport located within the Gulf of Thailand, which managed to enter the sites ‘Top 10 Airports’ worldwide.
On the aspect of the country’s hospitality sector, Thailand’s Centara Hotels and Resorts entered the polls as part of the ‘Top 10 Hotel Brands’ for Asia, whilst the following lists all had Thai hotels and resorts entering the list:
- Top 10 Boutique Hotels for Asia,
- Top 25 Business Hotels for Asia,
- Top 25 Conference Hotels for Asia,
- Top 25 Spa Hotels for Asia,
- Top 25 Leisure Hotels for Asia, and
- Top 25 Family Hotels.
Mr. YuthasakSupasorn, Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Governor, said that the TAT was pleased with the awards that Thailand managed to achieve in the Smart Travel Asia Best in Travel Poll 2017. He says that this is a mark of recognition for the resorts in Hua Hin, for the nightlife of Bangkok, and the whole tourism scene of the country.
The SmartTravelAsia.com Best in Travel Poll is a survey run independently by the magazine’s site, voted by its readers and subscribers, which number about 1.2M worldwide.
