Egyptians Not Happy Regarding Supermodel’s Wedding

Last month, Karim El Chiaty tied the knot with Ana Beatriz Barros who is a Brazilian supermodel and also known to be a former model of Victoria’s Secret. Their wedding was held in Mykonos, Greece and said to cost around 5 million euros or $5.56 million in dollars. Karim is the son of Hamid El Chiaty who is a businessman. Hamid owns the Tavco Group of Tourism and he is also known to be a fugitive who left Egypt moved to Greece during the Revolution in January 25, 2011.

Two months after that, the attorney general commanded that the assets as well as funds of Hamid El Chiaty left in Egypt should be frozen. This is due to an accusation in February of the same year that he participated in the manipulation of the price value of Novotel Luxir Hotel which was sold in 2005. It was sold by the Minister of Tourism at that time, Ahmed Maghrabi and Chiaty was the buyer. The property has a land area of 3 million square meters or 740 acres which is a northern coastal land that was designated for the El Chiaty Tours.

Despite the fact that Chiaty has made an announcement three years ago that the issue between them and the state was already settled, the recent wedding of his son shows that there are money that was looted in 2011 and the state is not able to retrieve it. It was also reported that Tunisia is one of the country that was able to retrieve the money in 2012 and 2012 due to looting by the men of the former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in 2011.

According to a spokesperson, the recovery of the money has been stopped but the reason why is unclear. The only thing Egypt managed to do was freeze the funds of the 19 individuals that are within the EU countries and 31 individuals that are located in Switzerland. The total money that was frozen amounted to $1.3 billion.

For those who are planning a wedding somewhere far, destination photography is now an available service to be availed so you can book the photographer you want, anywhere the wedding might be.
