Raffles Hotels & Resorts, a storied international hospitality brand that’s been in operation since 1887, has recently opened two new properties; a new 5 star resort in Maldives, as well as another in China. Both of these properties were opened in May 2019, and the hospitality group’s official website is now taking bookings for both.
Deputy CEO of Accor, Chris Cahill, noted that the Raffles portfolio now covers 14 properties across 12 countries, with carefully selected locations and venues in the world’s key tourism markets. He adds that, the 130-year old brand is currently undergoing a renaissance, with a stacked pipeline that’ll add 8-10 hotels to the brand’s portfolio within the next couple of years.
The property in China is the Raffles Shenzhen, which is located at the top floors of a 72-storey skyscraper in the One Shenzhen Bay complex. The property sports 168 spacious guestrooms, as well as a serviced residences, and offers spectacular views of Shenzen Bay and Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, the new 5 star resort in Maldives is the Raffles Maldives Meradhoo, located on the remote southern end of the archipelago. The property is sports 21 island beach villas and 16 ocean overwater villas. The resort is located on Meradhoo, a remote part of the Maldives that can only be reached by speed boat, and is surrounded by the crystalline waters of the India Ocean.
Raffles Brand & Strategic Partnerships VP Jeannette Ho says that, with the doors of the Raffles Maldives Meradhoo and Raffles Shenzhen officially open, Raffles is happy to welcome guests to experience their quality service, which has done much to make the company a popular figure. She added that the next couple of years will be exciting, as Raffles will be busy with expanding their portfolio across the world, aiming to bring the bran to the most attractive, interesting and culturally rich areas of the world.
The hotel group also has a growth plan, which will see it add several new properties, covering hotels, resorts and mixed-use properties to its portfolio in the next couple of years, including Raffles Udaipur, the brand’s first hotel in India.
